Haircuts. And more fighting. 



• The Fight, part 1 billion, because I asked him not to yell at her. 
• Movie night with the cousins. 



• All three kids came to cuddle this morning in bed. Got everyone off, went to the gym, showered, stopped at home so J. could shower, and then spent two hours in traffic to get to lunch with Angela.

• Ate lunch at Mordida. Very tasty!! And Angela invited us to use her finca in Barichara for Semana Santa!!! She is a really nice lady, and very generous.

• Rushed back across the city to pick up Ben and his friend from school. They spent the afternoon playing and watching TV. Ben was so excited!

• Thought I would wake up feeling broken after yesterday’s boxing workout, but felt not too bad. Morning routine, then gym, then sat and chatted with Hernan at Juan Valdez until it was time to pick up the kids.

• Had lunch at home, painted boards, carried bricks upstairs, went to Olympica to buy water, picked up Ben, stopped at Mom’s to pick up my new home theatre speakers (yay!!), and came home again.

• Had a really lovely homey afternoon with the kids, who didn’t have homework. J. watched El Chavo del Ocho with them, they played, and then we went and made grilled sandwiches for dinner.

• Once the kids were in bed, we cracked a bottle of wine and watched The Life Acquatic, with my new speakers 🙂 Went to bed and had a dream that J. and I got into a fight because I was looking at this iPad, which in the dream was actually my pink iPad.

• Dropped kids off. Danny cried a bit but then was fine. Had breakfast at Pan Pa’ Ya and then went for boxing workout. Afterwards went the Panamericana for the umpteenth time this week and dropped another wad of cash.

• Picked up the kids, dropped J. off at his writing class, had lunch at La Casa Amarilla, chatted with Cami, rushed back to pick up Ben, and finally got home.

• Ben got home in a terrible mood and immediately started beating on Danny and Lily. While he was being punished we started talking and it turned out that Mejia didn’t play with him today so he just stayed in the classroom by himself during recess. He cried so much and is really hurting. I don’t know how to help him 🙁

• Talked to the Rices; got the kids showered, fed, and in bed; waited to hear from Jose, which I finally did past midnight. He ran into some friends after his class, went to the casino, got drunk and lost this month’s money playing poker. In the car, he said I was the only one who truly loved him and that he wanted me to know he appreciated that, he said he had treated me badly and I didn’t deserve that. In bed he told me he didn’t want to leave me and that we had been cavalier with how we had dealt with things and we should talk and clear everything up. Then his tone switched and he started saying I wasn’t going to like what he had to say and it was going to upset me. He ended up saying that he didn’t want to live anymore, but I’m not sure if that was a cop-out. Next he talked about how I don’t let him do the things he wants to do and he didn’t know what to do about that. The rest of the conservation got fuzzy and then he fell asleep. I think he is conflicted and unsure of what he wants, but I will try to really listen to what he said and improve the things I can. Sigh.

• Woke up and had a morning cuddle with Ben. Gave him the book I bought him yesterday, El Abrazo. Ran out of the house a bit late. Danny cried when we dropped him off, saying he wanted to stay with me.

• Went to the gym, did 1 hour at level 12 on elliptical. Went to Juan Valdez and wrote for a while. Clarita from Lero Lero called me to say that Danny had been sad all day and could I come get him. Seems like both my boys are sad these days. Picked him up and he ran errands with us.

• Picked up Lily, went home for lunch, and then painted the bricks for J.s shelf. Showered, visited a bit with Carolina and showed her some of the new decorations in the house, and then worked in my sketchbook a bit. J. spent the afternoon in his office, preparing his assignment for tomorrow.

• Made spaghetti for dinner, got kids in bed, finished watching Maps to the Stars (so weird!), J. read me his assignment for writing class and I loved it, cuddled and giggled for a bit, then fell asleep^.

• Monday mornings: ugh. After the usual palaver with the kids, went to the gym for a brief, wimpy workout. Went to San Carlos school and bought tickets for San Carlista day, and then went to look at Wilborada 1047 bookstore.

• After lunch, worked on boards for J.’s bookshelf, went to Panamericana for some journaling supplies, finished painting boards, did some watercoloring, and fought with Ben about homework.

• While we were getting ready for bed, Ben told me again that he was lonely at school and had only one friend. I told him I only had one friend too. I asked him if he wanted to go to the movies with his friend and he said yes, so I organized it.

• Made grilled cheese sandwiches in new panini machine. Yum. Drank some wine and tootled around on the internet for awhile. Watched some of  Map to the Stars, but started falling asleep so turned it off. J. told me our moods were mismatched and I told him he was never in the mood. He said that wasn’t true. We fell asleep^.

• Woke up late because I had drawn the black out shades the night before and because Lily didn’t climb into my bed at 6am.

• Mom dropped Lily off, got up and made breakfast, got back into bed, read and cuddled^ for a while, and then J. got up to watch football, and I helped Ben start his homework. Took a lunch break when the Papa John’s delivery arrived, Ben got 30 minutes break, and then back to homework. After he finished, I read a bit more, then got everything ready for the start of the school week, got them showered, dinnered, and in bed.

• Made a yummy coconut-sugar scrub, which I proceeded to use immediately in the shower, worked on lists, and finished watching The Nightcrawler.

• Things were a wee bit tense the past few days, but all for stupid things that are not important at the end of the day. I need to remember what is truly important to me and let the rest slide. Breathe.

• Usual morning madness, dropped off kids, went to Body Combat class, and then did Surtifruver/Carulla grocery shopping.

• Ate lunch at home for the first time this week! Lay around all afternoon feeling exhausted.

• Got dressed; picked up Cami, Cata, and Andres; tried to go eat at El Gordo but it was full so ended up at Tabula. Had a delicious dinner and then went to Cinema Paradiso and watched La Famille Belier.
